Process of obtaining ice has begun

In Jelgava city’s reservoirs the process of obtaining ice has begun. It will be used for making the children’s slides, labyrinth and many other objects. 

Although for the sculptures the artists will use ice that is made industrially, which obtaining process has been happening since last year’s May. When making ice industrially, it is activated and frozen slowly, so that the final product is crystal clear and enduring. Endurance is ensured by process of slow freezing which forces the bubbles of air out of the water that is the main cause why the ice is melting prematurely. 

33 professional sculptors will start their work on February 5th and will continue until 9th of February.
